Sutherland Shire Council – Design and Construction of two CDS Units
In 2019 Optimal Stormwater won the tender to design and construct two GPTs for Gwawley Bay catchment. One was a CDS P2018 Unit at Kareena Road, Miranda and the other a CDS P3024 Unit at the Five Ways intersection. The locations were identified in an earlier report by Optimal Stormwater for Sutherland Shire Council that recommended over $5M in stormwater quality controls. Council’s objective was to reduce the pollution load on Gwawley Bay and the legal requirement for regular and costly dredging of Sylvania Waters to maintain navigable water depths. Council went to tender with GPT concept designs prepared by another consultant. In our submission, Optimal Stormwater identified significant shortcomings in their concept designs. The Scope of Work included detailed design, land survey, services scanning, consultation with the authorities, community consultation, liaison with Rocla to ensure smooth delivery of the CDS Units, construction of the CDS Units, preparation of Works-As-Executed drawings, Operation & Maintenance Manuals and formal hand-over to Council.
