Design and Construction of a 45m Graduated Trash Rack for Ryde City Council, at Porters Creek, Macquarie Park
Another consultant had proposed a Baramy trap or equivalent, and Optimal Stormwater tendered for their own design, and won the project with a superior design, and lower overall costs.
The trash rack is one of the longest in Sydney, and treats a catchment of 140ha. The primary objective is to protect the downstream culverts. Other works at site, left Council very happy, and Council even put it forward for an Award of Excellence.
Whilst trash racks are not the best performing treatments available, they remain a cost effective option for Councils looking for basic treatment and cheap cleaning, especially where budget limitations are in place.
Optimal Stormwater had designed two similar but smaller systems prior to this one.
